Research

In this post, I came up with a few ideas to improve the council building, which are:

A patio in the free area with architectural designed chairs for people to sit, read, relax or eat on. With this I found some designs of chairs and patio layouts, which can be seen below.

The second idea I had, was to have an area for people of any age to have a game of mini putt putt. I did have one concern if the golf ball would damage the property of the council building or the library. Below I found images of different mini putt putt areas.

My third idea, was along the lines of having a water fountain, but one where people could interact with it, like a sound fountain. When I visited Dubai, in the hotel they had a fountain that responded to music and would spit out water with each tone. I thought this would be great for people to interact with by playing different music and seeing the water respond. Below are some images of the water fountain from the hotel and some others.

I quite like the idea of having the water fountain, but I will definitely look into all the ideas and come up with the best idea and solution to improve the council building.

Tea Tree Gully Council 2

In this post I looked at the Graphic Design that the Tea Tree Gully council had, like the logo, seen below. It represents the leaf from the tea tree which grew in the area as a national tree.

Here is the Tea Tree Gully council website:
http://www.teatreegully.sa.gov.au/

I went on the council's website and took a look around, there was a lot of events or former events that I looked up the promotional material for. I found that in previous years, the park behind (Civic Park) held various concerts, like Jessica Mauboy, which I found the poster for. Below I found a few posters for different events held at Civic Park:

The image below is the events@thepark logo, which is used on the posters and can be found on the website:

The posters are very bold, with bright colours, that is appealing. The posters are obviously aimed to the young generation, but is open to every age group. The colours and text that is used is very "hip" and is quite appealing to younger age groups, that makes them want to come to the event.
This is good for the council as they get to promote the Civic Park and the events there, however, I don't believe that the council benefit from this as the building itself is not very eye catching.
I believe that the council needs something else that incorporates the council building, in the free area that I found.

Tea Tree Gully Council

My council building at Tea Tree Gully is quite large and long with hardly any indication of what the building is and any graphic design around. There is also not a lot of free space for something that the community could get involved in.
Around the building there is a restaurant, a huge park behind and a library, and with Tea Tree Plaza shopping center not far, the council is in a very public place. This means that many young and old people would be in the area and the council building should have something that would improve community involvement.

Below are images of my council building. These images are the main entrance of the building, which looks quite plain and doesn't have much graphic design to it.

Whilst taking a look around the building I found a free area next to the building, in between the restaurant and overlooking the park. I also noticed that the library is actually behind the council in the same building.

Below are some images I took of the free area. The first image, you can see the park, the second image, you can see the side of the restaurant and the third image, you can see the window which belongs to the library.
